NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Certified Materials
High-performance coated textiles for drinking water applications. Select Renegade materials are tested and certified to the requirements of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61.
What is NSF/ANSI/CAN 61?
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects is a recognized standard that establishes minimum health-effects requirements for chemical contaminants and impurities that may be indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components, and materials used in drinking-water systems.
The standard applies to products and materials that come into contact with drinking water or drinking-water treatment chemicals. It is recognized as a national standard in both the United States and Canada and is also widely accepted internationally.
Products and materials covered by the standard can include:
- Process media such as carbon and sand
- Protective materials such as coatings, linings, and liners
- Joining and sealing materials such as gaskets and welding materials
- Pipes, tanks, fittings, and related products
- Treatment and distribution equipment such as valves and separation membranes
- Mechanical plumbing devices and other drinking-water system components
For manufacturers and specifiers, certification provides independent verification that a specific product has been tested to the requirements of the standard for drinking-water contact.
The Standard
Why NSF Certification Matters
NSF certification means a product has been independently reviewed, tested and certified to the requirements of an established public-health standard.
For Renegade materials, certification includes:
- Review of the specific product formulation
- Testing to the requirements of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61
- Unannounced manufacturing-facility audits
- Periodic retesting to verify continued conformance
Why Specifics Matter
Certified Renegade Materials
NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certification is tied to the specific product formulation being evaluated. Changes to a material, including certain colorants or additives, can affect certification status.
Renegade currently offers certified products within our Flex and PPI material families.
Current NSF listings apply to protective barrier liner applications of 50 gallons or greater, and water-contact-side requirements vary by material.
Always confirm the exact material and configuration for your application.
