Scaling a new fabric technology takes more than a better material. It takes production capabilities, customers ready to adopt it, and a system for recovering that material after use.
New financing from Closed Loop Partners is helping Renegade Plastics take that next step.
Closed Loop Partners’ Catalytic Capital & Private Credit group has provided a loan to support our pilot production line in Denver, Colorado. The financing provides working capital as we build toward a commercial-scale manufacturing facility. It comes alongside a separate $5 million grant awarded by Colorado Circular Communities to support that future facility.
What This Means for Renegade’s Growth
Our polypropylene-based coated fabrics give manufacturers an alternative to conventional PVC and other multi-material coated textiles. Designed for circularity from the outset, they serve applications ranging from tarps and reusable packaging to agricultural curtains and construction materials.
The next step is bringing that technology to more customers. Supporting our Denver pilot line helps us advance toward commercial-scale production and respond to demand across the industries we serve.
“We are at a pivotal moment in our growth. Across every industry that we serve, we are seeing increasing demand for an alternative product that provides the durability and circularity required for coated commercial and industrial fabrics. Partnering with Closed Loop Partners not only gives us the capital, but the network and circular economy expertise needed to scale the development of our technology and meet the growing demand for alternative materials that can be recycled.” – Tony Ehrbar, Co-founder and CEO of Renegade Plastics
Building a Market for Recycled Materials
Growth also means creating more opportunities to put recovered materials back to work.
Renegade can incorporate recycled polypropylene into its fabric coating and is working to increase recycled content further. We’ve also built a network of more than 10 qualified recycling partners across the country that can process post-use Renegade tarps and fabrics into resin for use in new products.
Connecting those capabilities is central to our approach: develop fabrics with recovery in mind, build pathways to collect and process them, and create demand for the resulting material.
This financing supports the next stage of that work.
